Our History
Our founder, Steve Yolen is a seasoned journalist and editor with decades of experience in international reporting, particularly focused on Latin America and the Caribbean. His career has spanned high-stakes foreign correspondence, editorial leadership, and entrepreneurial ventures in publishing, marked by a commitment to storytelling amid political turmoil and cultural shifts.
From print pioneers to digital storytellers
Dash began in the late 1980s as one of Brazil’s first desktop publishing bureaus, at a time when personal computers and laser printers were transforming how companies produced documents. Founded by journalists and designers fluent in both English and Portuguese, Dash quickly became known for bringing professional publishing standards to Brazil’s emerging corporate communications market—bridging language, design, and technology long before “digital media” was a buzzword.
A legacy of precision and trust
Through the 1990s and 2000s, Dash evolved alongside its clients, moving from layout production and technical manuals to high-stakes corporate and financial documentation. The company built a reputation for accuracy, confidentiality, and editorial polish, serving major Brazilian and multinational clients in energy, finance, and industry. As globalization expanded, so did the need for clear, credible communication across languages—and Dash became the trusted partner of firms seeking English-language excellence rooted in Brazilian expertise.
Today’s premium translation boutique
Today, Dash Documentos Eletrônicos Ltda. operates as a boutique translation and editorial consultancy, specializing in Portuguese–English translations of corporate, ESG, and financial materials that read like originals—not translations. Combining journalistic instinct with business fluency, Dash delivers work tailored for international audiences and global investors. After more than three decades, its mission remains the same: to help Brazil’s voice be heard clearly, credibly, and compellingly around the world.
